Hello, my name is Allison and I am an artist.

For the past 5 years I have worked to become a graphic designer, but I have always been an artist. My transition from fine artist to graphic designer began my freshman year of college. Since then I have worked tirelessly to work like a designer, talk like a designer, and think like a designer. After many years of studying alongside my professors and working with the most amazing marketing manager in the world, I have become a force to be reckoned with in the world of print design and advertising.

I began at the age of 7 taking studio painting and drawing classes. I loved to draw and paint, and became extremely skilled in watercolors, pastels, acrylics, oils, and charcoal mediums. I continued to create art all throughout my younger days and into my high school years. I was convinced that I could never build a successful career in art, until a very inspirational high school art teacher convinced me I could. She kept telling me I could make it, and majoring in art was something I should seriously consider.

I entered San Diego State University with a goal to major in Fine Arts. After a few studio classes I realized that my passion for the fine arts was something I could pursue on the side, and not exactly something that employers were looking to hire for a full-time position. I decided to take classes in graphic design with no prior experience in the major programs the industry demands. Now I am highly skilled in the computer programs used to design.

I currently work as a design intern at a civil engineering firm. I am the only person at the company who designs, so my title is more of a graphic designer with a pending degree. I work with a marketing team to make our company look as professional as it possibly can. I mainly create print designs, but have also worked to produce computer advertisements, PowerPoint presentations, and E-Blasts. In addition to working for my company, I take comissions for print designs and fine art works to broaden my artistic knowlege and give me further experience in working in different environments with diverse clients and client needs.
